April 25, 2008 - Book-The Rosalind Club-The First 100 Years!

I’m about as close as I can get to speed reading. Gee Whiz! Here’s the latest: ‘The First 100 Years of the Rosalind Club’ by Betty Pfeiffer. I’m only showing a part of the book cover for a very big reason I learned last week: The club is private and wants no publicity. So I’ll keep this brief and focus on the author.
Betty Pfeiffer has been a friend for many years and I’m writing this setting that aside. This book is excellent! It’s extremely well written and thought out. It’s one of the best histories I’ve read recently. The last I read, ‘Outposts on the Gulf’, was also excellent but missing something Betty peppers throughout the book. That something are lots of little stories of situations, mostly humorous, that happened to members. I love the little snippets of history and I’d love to see Betty write a whole collections of these. Not necessarily about the club. Just from her life and others. She’s such a good writer that such a collection would be a gem. I guess you know what I’ll be talking to Betty about next time I see her.
