May 16, 2008 - Book- Eisner/Miller
by Rob Smith, Jr. on May.16, 2008, under Cartooning
For National Cartoonists Week, I thought I’d read something more cartoon related.
A very good analysis of the comic book, art and entertainment business. This is basically a transcription of a recorded conversation of comic book/graphic novelists/director Will Eisner and Frank Miller.
It’s certainly a terrific look at Will Eisner’s understanding of who he is, what he has done and where the entire comic book business has been through. To me it also shows a surprising ignorance of Frank Miller, who is otherwise brilliant artist. He comes across shallow and immature. It’s quite a look at a legend and eventual legend in the field.

I haven’t read the book, but am curious in what Miller says that leaves him in such a bad light. Perhaps this is why some people are so upset he is directing The Spirit.
