A worker holds a pair of the famous “glaring fish.” Known to hypnotize prey up to 200 times larger than themselves, scientists believe these rare fish occasionally engage in stare-offs and die of starvation. Aquarium owners around the world are asked to keep any survivors separate, but have not been able to state positively how these fish manage to breed without looking at each other.
