Book: ‘One-Way Trip’ by Scott McEwen

by on Feb.16, 2019, under What's New?

One-Way Trip (Sniper Elite, #1)

One-Way Trip by Scott McEwen

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Above average military thriller full of detail of tactical and strategic efforts to save a soldier. The characters are mostly well written. Considering there are two authors, you’d think one might have noticed how similar a great number of the characters are. Especially the military ones. True, my encounters with military folks has me finding many being very similar. In books characters need to be more clearly drawn to follow the story.

The plot is average for this kind of book. It is well executed, especially the last half of the book. The writing is standard with the above mentioned poor character development.

Overall this is a very exciting book.

Bottom line: i recommend this book. 7 out of ten points.

A snippet of my digital work about schools.

by on Feb.11, 2019, under What's New?

A TON of work and meetings this coming week! Hope to end the week at the Battle of Olustee, a re-enactment of Florida’s most significant Civil War battle.
Just about wrapped up with the digital coloring. This is a piece for a project involving how much children are being watched while at school.

Been digitally working in the past week. Wow! It is boring as ever. Been playing films while working. Decided to draw a bit during ‘Jamaica Inn’ from the big movie year of 1939. The film is adapted from the book by, one of my favorite authors, Daphne du Maurier.

Scribbled using a handy purple ballpoint pen.

Hope to do some live drawing again. This coming Tuesday.

Book: ‘A Clubbable Woman’ by Reginald Hill

A Clubbable Woman (Dalziel & Pascoe, #1)

A Clubbable Woman by Reginald Hill

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A very good debut of a series with a good mystery. There is a ton of extraneous stuff to provide plenty of background. As well as this is written it’s worth reading.

The story starts off as easy enough but gets more and more tangled as one reads. The characters are very good, especially considering the great number of them.

Bottom line: i recommend this book. 7 out of ten points.

Watercolor by me and meetings. – November 21st, 2018

by on Nov.21, 2018, under Cartooning

Finished another project today. Painted and inked and ready to go.

Next is the giant painting.
Tomorrow I’ll post my annual Black Friday offering for those who might want a painting by me super cheap.

The painting was done during the comic book club meeting Wednesday evening in The Villages, a place I can’t stand. At a gig last year a member invited me to come as a guest. I started last January and the group has had a profound affect on me as i have refocused on my training in comic books and as a storyteller. That had me turning a number of projects into comics projects. More to come involving that!

The group also had me realize I have boatloads of comics that needed a home. Thus, my trading out my collection to a good home for car care.

Earlier in the day I worked during my weekly meeting with Tom Orr. In the back of the borrowed car I’ve been using was the alligator pirate stand up I planned to return Tuesday to Julianne’s Coastal Cottage until backups on 75 sent me home to try again Friday. Anyway, got a pic of Tom and the sword wielding gator.

Last event before December!

This one a baby shower. I usually refuse these, but went with this one in Mount Dora a couple months ago so I could see friends.

The work load has gotten the better of me and I’m heading straight home.

Turned out to be a pretty good group. I’ll add cations to each photograph.
