What’s New?
November 18, 2008 – Editorial Cartoon Tuesday!

We’ve gone from Bush to Clinton to Bush to Clinton. The plus side is that maybe Obama won’t persue some of his nutty ramblings while talking (and spending) his way into office. Unless he shoves his staff aside or fires them, they’re experienced enough to hold the reigns to Obama and make more practical goals. I probably won’t care for those other goals, but at least those probably wouldn’t scare me to death!
November 17, 2008 – Cartooning and Meeting!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Nov.17, 2008, under Cartooning, What's New?
Spent most of the day knocking out artwork. Then headed to the monthly Marion County Republican Executive Committee meeting (Right are sketches of folks at the meeting). While there I started realizing I didn’t feel well. After getting home and working on a couple projects I realized I was sick with a cold. Funny, I left the house well. Pencilled and inked projects at Chelsea Coffee Shop and felt fine. It’s sometime between the coffee shop and the meeting (A 5 minute drive) that I became ill. Looks like I’ll strike the schedule for the week and hunker down and get better before a busy upcoming weekend.
November 16, 2008 – SIC & Broadway!

I made a coast-to-coast Krispy Kreme encounter. After last nights caricature event in Daytona Beach, I pit-stopped at the landmark Krispy Kreme on Speedway Boulevard and Nova Road. It is the eastern most store in Florida and one of the last original nearly 50 year old Krispy Kreme buildings still standing in Florida, besides the one in Gainesville. I nabbed a doughnut there.
This morning, on my way to Clearwater, I pulled off and swung by the western most Krispy Kreme on Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa and picked up a box. One thing I learned is that the Tampa doughnuts are 14 cents more.
Above Sioux Hart and Ron Johnson experience 3-D Batman! Rob’s 3-D comic was one of items shared at the Suncoast Inkslinger meeting at the Bellevue Biltmore in Belleair. Below is Jeremy Buchanan and Greg Canales. Apparently ensconced in gossip is Tracey Canales and Ann E. Sabo.
After the Inkslingers, I headed to The Villages (A place I do all I can to avoid) to see my friend and fellow National Cartoonists Society member, George Pieper perform in a show named ‘Broadway Memories’. All performing reside in The Villages and what a lot of singing and performing ability exists there!
George, literally, wore many hats and sang a number of numbers. Below is a sketch of George singing ‘There is Nothing Like a Dame’ from ‘South Pacific’. Beside his sketch is of another great entertainer who belted out tunes from ‘Mame’.

What the heck are we doing????????????? Repeating the mistakes of the 1920s seems what we’re doing. The banks have cool secrecy laws that help them hide where money is shifted and stored. The laws were created by heavily lobbied legislators to stop any potential panic that might occur if Americans learned …the rest of the story.
So we Americans are kept in the dark, hand the banking industry our cash and trust they will do good with it. Hopefully they are. In the 1920s they weren’t so good. Again the Teasury worked with the banks to bankings interest. The Justice Department also leaned in bankings favor as bankings top dogs, certain investors and others on lower rungs made off with lots and lots of other peoples cash. It was an internal looting. Few were prosecuted.
Hopefully that is not happening now. Though ditching that much cash into a murky industry as banking sure must be tempting. The sad part is that we’ll probably never know.

by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.29, 2006, under What's New?
Sandra visited the doctor yesterday and got a lollipop and a good inspection report. She is cleared to return to work, which she’ll do Monday. In the meantime, she’s continuing rest, was taken to the grocery store, checking back in on the computer and reading even more books! Thanks to all who offered even more books to fill the emptying shelves!
I ‘ll step aside now with progress reports and let her continue this on her website:

September 26th, 2006 – Sandra Update!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.27, 2006, under What's New?
She’s still having eating issues and still some pain. Wednesday is the next doctor stop. Her mother is taking her and we’ll know more after that.
She started using the computer today. But can only sit for awhile until the pain gets her. More books flying off the shelves. She’s currently reading ‘Green Empire’, the story of the St. Joe Company.
