Drew some stories Tuesday at an event in Sumter County, Florida.

by on Apr.13, 2022, under Caricatures

Drew some stories Tuesday at an event in Sumter County, Florida.
It’s been nearly 4 months since last doing this for an event.

A bit tougher than usually getting ready for the event, as I had to remember just all I needed for the event. Especially being prepared with pens. The last photo challenged the Tombow brushes to produce the thick, black mane. Though that also eased a too heavy look of the illustration.

The event was trying at first, funner later, but still hoping not to do many events involving this caricature/storytelling in the future.
Again got talked down to and treated as some side show nutter.
I don’t get that treatment drawing the Happy Animal drawings, though, in many way, that takes far less skill.
Folks just can’t shake the caricature-thing as being a lesser artwork done by lesser humans.

My rough pencils for a watercolor gift illustration…

by on Dec.04, 2020, under Caricatures, Cartooning

After a couple weeks getting the annual Christmas illustration done, I’m back at the drawing board again!
These are rough pencils for an annual illustration I do for the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber President gets this illustration as part of a Thsnk You for serving.
I’ve turned it in for approval.

A last Minute Caricature Request!

by on Sep.28, 2020, under Caricatures, Cartooning

A last Minute Request!
Within half an hour of finishing the Ha-Ba-Da-Bee broadcast Saturday I get a call from an old client needing a caricature illustration by Monday morning.
Saturday I finished the pencils drawing for approval. After that, on Sunday, I prepped the art for watercolor. Finished that by midnight as I ducked and dodged various calamities caused by a violent lightning storm that was part of a front passing through.
Here’s the prepped version. I’ll post the finished Tuesday after the artwork is presented.

My New Watercolor caricature – Larry on a Bike on to his Prison Ministry!

by on Aug.27, 2020, under Caricatures

Watercolor painting I was commissioned to do of Larry on his bike heading to his weekly prison ministry!

Here’s video of me creating this from blank paper to finished watercolor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u-lcnf4LUY

This painting was drawn and painted on Crescent board.

Would you like me to create a watercolor painting for members of the family, friends, neighbors, someone you want to honor or, even, pets?
Send me a private message and I will work with you to make that happen. I’m making very special deals due to financial issues today.

My 2nd Gig for Saturday: Lake County REC.

by on Sep.14, 2019, under Caricatures

Part two event for Saturday was a volunteer effort for charity.

The child in the photo is brilliant! At 12 he has aced the SAT with something like a 1600 score.
He excels in chemistry.
Of course, he was home schooled! Credit also going to his parents!!!

Then there’s Amy who spoke about her writings and ideas and stumbled into solving a philosophical issue I’ve grappled with for a very long time.

Here’s me and Carey Baker, Lake County (Florida) Property Appraiser. I wish I could always be do jovial! 🙂

#Inktober #8 – My drawing of Ismo!

by on Oct.08, 2018, under Caricatures

On the road all day from Boca Raton south to Miami, west through the Everglades and Big Cypress, north to Punta Gorda and then much further north home. Learned and took photos of tons, but did nearly no drawin’!

Except when I dropped off the painting from yesterday to Ismo (That’s his name!) at Florida Atlantic University. He wants to pitch me to the college for a project. But he didn’t get drawn at the wedding party Saturday night. So I scribbled the attached with a Flair pen.

By the way, though Ismo is from another country, he loves hiking our Florida trails and his reading sets his pace!
