I’d wanted to add one to his collection strumming in the swamps of Florida. At the Festival of Cartoon Art in Columbus, Ohio, he mentioned folks might be doing their own renditions at the bar of the hotel Saturday evening. So I said, I’m in! That night at the bar I drew the above. Below is a photo of Stacy with the artwork. By the way, in the background is another friend, Frank Mariani.

by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.27, 2010, under Caricatures, Cartooning, Friends, Illusration
I met with my friend Peggy Jo van den Berg to create a painting for another friend, former Orlando Mayor Carl T. Langford at a Perkins in Mount Dora.
Here Peggy Jo is with the final painting.
I love when this happens: 3 friends who have never met, Dick Daniels, Ken Culotta and Peggy Jo van den Berg. We all had a good time at Perkins!

by Rob Smith, Jr. on Jan.26, 2010, under Cartooning, Illusration, Sketchbook
The Illustration Friday word is clumsy. As I drew this live on UStream last night, two viewers, Coffeeness & HotPopcornWater, suggested the critters. I then cobbled together the drawing. You can see the film by clicking here. It’s the last ten minutes.
July 11th, 2009 – Palm Beach County Parks!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Jul.15, 2009, under Florida Outdoors!, Illusration, Sketchbook, Various, What's New?
Sandra and I made our way through Palm Beach County to visit a few parks in the area. We started off at Serenoa Glade Park. The posey below is from there.
From there we visited Sugar Sand Park. The sketch to the right is of a very rare plant sprouting from a sabal palm. We also stopped at Blazing Star Preserve.
The film above was shot at Grassy Water Preserve. Below is the sketch I made.
On the way home we saw this was the weather we encountered.
March 21, 2009 – Artwork – Subtraction!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Mar.21, 2009, under Caricatures, Cartooning, Friends, Illusration
Took a swing at Illustration Friday’s word for the week – ‘Subtract’. I wasn’t going for a gag cartoon. Just something to illustrate a scene. Above is the finished part. Below is the rough pencil, inked with marker to work out towards the final inked lines. Then it was all digitally colored.
