My newest painting ready for watercolor!

by on Aug.30, 2020, under Illusration

Here’s a scene I drew of Sidney Lanier, William Bartram and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings warping time in a canoe as three of the most noted writers to document the Ocklawaha River, here, in Florida.

It’s prepped for watercolor on 11″x14″ illustration board.
Plan to start water coloring Monday.

It’s for an auction. Not sure which one yet. Was supposed to be for one, but got on to it late trying to round up work to cover bills.Hope it will raise money for one of the two organizations that has dibs on it. I’ll let you all know which one gets it, if you want.

My Warm-Up Friday; Turlington Turkey and Lear’s Owl & Pussycat in color.

by on Aug.24, 2020, under Cartooning, Illusration

Jim Turlington’s birthday and, for some reason, Edward Lear came up. So, a nod to the limerick and Jim’s artistic specialty.
Added color later.

Wonder what I’ll come up with Monday?

by on Jul.31, 2020, under Cartooning, Illusration

My Ha-Ba-da-Bee live drawing from July 18th.

This was one of the days I wasn’t feeling well and set aside the usual audience contributions and just started drawing an elephant. The rest I made up as I went along.

Someday soon I’ll post a sped-up video of me drawing this.

This is 16″ x 20″. Various brush pens on heavy paper.
Drawn in about an hour.

Next Ha-Ba-Da-Bee: Saturday at 3pm. About an hour.
Live Warm-Up: Friday, Monday and Wednesday at 1pm.

Off the top of my head illustrated three main characters of books I’ve just finished.
First is Cluny Brown of the book with the same name by Marjery Sharp.
The next is a drawing with no reference of Thomas A. Edison. I just finished ‘The Edisons of Fort Myers’ by Tom Smoot.
The last is the evil, madman, Warren Latch, of ‘The Loner: Brutal vengeance’ by William Johnstone.

All ink on paper.  No pencils. No plan. Just started drawing.

Ha-Ba-Da-Bee Live Drawing – Saturday – 3pm!

by on Apr.18, 2020, under Cartooning, Illusration

Ha-Ba-Da-Bee Live Drawing – Saturday – 3pm!
On my Facebook/RobSmithJr page!

I’ll be live creating an illustrated story entirely based upon the interactions I have with those of you that tune in.
No telling what will happen and what i might draw!

I’ll be over in my neighbor’s garden with the babbling fountains…where i’ll be babbling, too.

Forecast is for rain. If that happens, i’ll move it all inside….
and babble there instead.

I have some news to babble about.

Below, please type a thing or two I might start with to create the story.

For your consideration: https://www.patreon.com/RobSmithJr
