October 13th, 2006 – Tire Change!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Oct.13, 2006, under What\'s New?
Had a new tire losing air and headed back to the place that I bought it. I have a lifetime warranty, which came in handy. Discount Tire was quick to repair AND point out that I had two tires that need to be replaced. Soooo, free tire fix plus the cost of 2 tires. Here’s the fellow getting the tires prepared.

October 8th, 2006 – Sunken Gardens!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Oct.11, 2006, under What\'s New?
After the National Cartoonists Society Florida Chapter gathering in St. Petersburg, we went just down the road to one of Florida’s still great natural attractions, Sunken Gardens.
Now being run by the City of St. Petersburg, the Florida botanical wonder is quite an attraction considering the modest fee.

Besides the plants and flowers, some feathered friends such as flamingoes and this individual to the right.
October 6th-8th, 2006 – NCS Florida Chapter Meeting-3!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Oct.11, 2006, under What\'s New?
This portrait of me was created by artist Jack Barrett. Jack was once an artist for the St. Petersburg Times. He drew it during the NCS Chapter Sunday breakfast.
I reciprocated by drawing a caricature of him.  Â

Here he begins the portrait.
The portrait is really coming along! His wife is holding the caricature I drew.
October 6th-8th, 2006 – NCS Florida Chapter Meeting-2!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Oct.10, 2006, under What\'s New?
During the NCS meeting weekend, some of us take a break for lunch at the Columbia Restaurant at the Pier in St. Petersburg.
Here’s a 10 second sketch of a pelican. I was going to spend a bit more time, but the car that had brought me was brought up and I had to make the sketch brief.
Â
Despite that Chris Browne was able to snap a pic of me as I round off the tail!

Saturday was the business meeting of our National Cartoonists Society Florida Chapter. Here are two sketches. One of comic book legend Don Perlin and the other of editorial and comic strip cartoonist, Ralph Smith who makes the very bold move of trying to make the business meeting serious. Turns out he was kidding.
September 29th, 2006 – A Visit to a Faux Boardwalk!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Oct.09, 2006, under What\'s New?
Met with fellow artists Jim Fern and “Chainsaw” Chuck Majewski over at Disney’s Boardwalk after I had finished a day drawing caricatures at an event at the Orange County Convention Center. The drawing at the right is of the “Chainsaw”.
To the left is a drawing of me by Fern, who was illustrating my description of the notorious ‘No Name Bar’ down in the Keys. A place where only those not seeking the law hangout. Thus the addition of the cigarette and the gun. Not seen myself with a cigarette before.
Next is a drawing of Chuck’s “Big Daddy” Ed Roth’s Rat Fink.

September 21st – Sandra Progress Report!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.21, 2006, under What\'s New?
She came out Tuesday late afternoon feeling as if she had just been operated on. She was even feeling better still for a while. Then yesterday afternoon she started going downhill. Severe headache, pains in her stomach, nausea, etc. As the day wore on she felt worse. We called the doctor/surgeon who made some recomendations, which meant a need to head to a store. One problem was her pain medication, she was told to stop taking it.
Needing to get to a store I called her mother about 11pm, since Sandra didn’t want to be left alone, . She came over and watched over Sandra while I zipped to the store for some medicine. She got through the night and was able to rest. I stayed up and kept an eye on her. She woke up and told me to go to bed so I might be conscience to help her this morning.
Today she’s had the same symptoms. Another call to the doctor’s office provided more advice and another trip to the store. Finally, this evening she started feeling better and was able to eat some solid food. Good ol’ chicken soup.
I’ll get another update up tomorrow!
