After knocking out hand-made, watercolored Christmas ornaments this past Christmas, Julie Pointer,of Julianne’s Coastal Cottage in Mount Dora, brought up the idea of me creating similar Valentine’s Day cards. We set a date and that was this past weekend. It was supposed to be three hours on Friday and three hours on Saturday. Turned out to be Friday through Sunday and I turned out to be exhausted.

Love drawing trains and this one covers all the items this fellow mentioned. I didn’t get his name, but will tomorrow when he and his wife come back to have me paint a few more cards for them.

My main goal was to harken back to the days when we, as young folks, exchanged well illustrated Valentine’s Day cards with punny sayings.

Most of the overtime was catching up with requests. Some that even came through Facebook.

All were inked and watercolored while folks watched. I used a Koi portable watercolor set to add color.

The photos are all requests for the various names noted on the cards.

The newest Swampy’s Florida painting I’m working on now just before adding the watercolor. I’ll add more as it comes along.
The original painting will be available through an auction to support Colt Creek State Park. Prints of the painting will also be available.

Here’s one of my newest watercolor paintings to join the Swampy’s Florida lineup. At a suggestion by a friend I added a tutu to a Florida black bear and got a character Barishnikov would want to team with.

This is a watercolor painting and will be available soon as a Swampy’s Florida print.

There’s not much of moon tonight in the Florida sky, but you can go out and howl at it anyway. Some, like Zuber, may not be as good howling as others.

Zuber sends the baloney discs aflyin’ to Trilby for a tasty treat!

Swampy and the gang say Happy Native American Day! They’re gathered around a chickee. The Seminole home was built off the ground to keep the rain water and critters from getting in.

The Seminoles were the second phase of Native Americans to come into and live in Florida. The first phase lived on the peninsula for far over a thousand years until being wiped out by the Spanish conquistadors. Some of the tribes that were here prior to the Spanish invasion in the early 1500s, were the Ais, Tequesta, Toboga, Timucua, Calusa, Apalachee, etc, etc. We’ll never be sure how many tribes were actually living on the peninsula or their lifestyle due to the extermination by the Spanish.
