I’ve been having a Busy Day! – September 17th, 2017
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.17, 2017, under What's New?
Sunday started with a gopher tortoise in the middle of the road. It took s bit of time, but I waited for the fellow to move along a safer trail.
A drive to Orlando found me at the 90th Birthday party for a great man, Leon Handley. His daughter, Leann Handley and family did a Great job arranging and then re-arranging the party due to the hurricane.
Quite a crowd showed up. Always great to see Peggy Jo van den Berg, Claude Wolfe, State Legislator Geraldine Thompson and so many others. Wonderful deserved tributes for Leon and an overall terrific event!
A short spin to Winter Park and I got to spend a bit of time with my very oldest friends who knew me before I was born. Meaning they knew me before I knew them! 😀 Always great to catch up and pick up tidbits of Winter Park from Sue and Curt Hill and their daughter, Elizabeth.
Spun from there for client approval of a project I can’t mention due to surprises and those Facebook friends I’m connected to. 🙂
From there I can’t thank Bettielee and Vince Sansone with their help passing along boxes of history books of the late, great Corb Sarchet. They so much helped Corb’s wife Dianne and had to work with my crazy schedule getting the last of this fantastic collection of history books to a good home!
Finally was a trip back into Winter Park to get with an old friend and Orlando City Hall colleague, Ben Gray. It was so great to see Ben who looks like I first remember seeing him some 30 years ago. Ben, pal Robert Bauerle and I talked Florida history, national & national issues and the various incarnations of Publix in the College Park area of Orlando. Finally have that straight in my head. 🙂
I type this in a mighty exhausted state in Mount Dora on my way home after a trip well worth taking. Thank you all!
