September 3, 2009 – Duke’s Service
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.25, 2009, under Friends
Sandra and I attended Duke Crittenden’s memorial service. It was sad to see such a great man pass away. He was a major agricultural figure in Central Florida, he was also a stalwart Reublican. Even being head of the Florida Republican Party.
Many honored Duke with their memories from Charlie Gray to former Governor Claude Kirk.
To the right is a small sketch I made during the service.

by Rob Smith, Jr. on Apr.22, 2009, under Florida History!, What's New?
I was at the monthly Orlando Remembered meeting. Above is Duke Crittenden, Tana Porter, Charles Gray and Mayor Carl Langford. Below is a new comer, Melanie King, whose Grandfather designed the former Orange County Courthouse that the history museum is now using. Here Melanie King get’s the opening poster of the museum from museum curator, Sarah Van Arsdel.
I drew a lot of signs during the Orlando Tea Party. Here is one. For more photos of crowds and such click here at Rob’s Right.
