November 25, 2009 – Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Nov.25, 2009, under Florida Restaurants, What's New?
Just found this Tuesday amongst stuf f – I shouldn’t probably say I’m proud of this ribbon, but I am. It was some nearly 30 years ago I got this at a Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour at the University Square Mall in Tampa, Florida. The franchise moved out of Floria in the mid-’80s. The ribbon was given out for eating an enormous amount of ice cream. That was back when I could do it and not gain a single pound.

Rob,
I believe Farrell’s was only at Westshore mall. I had many birthdays as a kid there. I grew up near University Mall and do not recall there ever being one there.

There was an icecream shop in the university mall in the 80’s. and it did serve enormous desserts. But I do not remember if it was called Farell’s. it had a red front on it with white lettering. thats all i remember.

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour was a wonder to behold in its heyday. Twas a place of many glorious outings after too many hours studying at USF’s library. It indeed existed at University Square Mall and it faced Fowler Avenue. There were many ice cream “Zoo’s” consumed there with other suffering students. The Zoo was about a foot and a half tall of rounded scoops of different flavor and colored ice creams loaded in a silver bowl . . . Yummmmmmm.
