August 29th, 2010 – Another caricature!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Sep.01, 2010, under Books, Caricatures
Here’s Marnie and Pedro! I usually draw folks while they’re talking and I miss a big smile like his shown above. But then I would’ve missed his love of superheroes (Especially Green Lantern and NOT Rob Liefeld!).
August 27th, 2010 – Caladdaugh Cottage Irish Pub
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Aug.28, 2010, under Florida Restaurants, Friends
We continued the International Movable Feast at the Claddagh Cottage Irish Pub in Orlando. Friends Sarah Butler, James Saunders, Robert Baurle and Allen Currin delved into a bit o’ Irish vittles. Great food! Most go for the bar apparently, but this place has a tasty Irish stew!
Above is a sketch of an area of the pub.

Here are a couple sketches I did at the monthly Merry Philosophers meeting in Orlando. I used to attend this meeting 6 years ago and got away from it. Mostly because they met so far away from where I am. It so happened this meeting coincided with me needing to pick up my father at the airport, so I combined the two. My old friend Jim Saunders came along, too. Had to scoot out early to pick up my father whose plane ended up being delayed and I found myself waiting at a nearby Denny’s for the plane to land.

by Rob Smith, Jr. on Jul.20, 2010, under Florida Outdoors!, Sketchbook
I took advantage of free entry into Florida State Parks Saturday and got to eight parks… and sketched away. I also got a lot of Swampy photos some of which can be found over at Swampy’s Florida.
To the right is a sketch I drew at Crystal River Archaeological State Park.
Next are fish lingering over the spring boils at Rainbow Springs State Park.
The turtles are from Homosassa Springs State Park.

This is a caricature illustration I did a few weeks ago for Donna Hartsfield, above. I met her at a restaurant near in Winter Park, Florida, and produced the entire piece there. I didn’t want to post the photo until the recipient received it. Jeff was presented with the art last weekend, so here’s the photo of Donna and the art.
July 2nd, 2010 – Artwork!
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Jul.03, 2010, under What's New?
Too much swirling around to work in the studio, so for the first time a quite a while I headed over to Chelsea Coffee and knocked a whole lot of artwork out in an hour and a half. Above is a photo of some of it.
June 26th, 2010 – Across Brevard County
by Rob Smith, Jr. on Jun.28, 2010, under Florida Outdoors!
I headed over to Cocoa Beach to participate in ‘Hands Across the Sand’. My #1 reason was because I know tourism is far more important to our commerce and quality of the state than having oil platforms dotting our shores of Florida. I should mention I’m not nutty and flat out disagree with other reasons the hundreds of people got together Saturday. Above is a sketch of a few in the very long string of people at the beach.
Parking near Lori Wilson Park gave me a chance to take their nature trail and do the sketch above.
Afterward I attended ‘Jeannie Day’ not far from where ‘Hands Across the Beach’ was. That is better covered at ‘Swampy’s Florida’. To the left is a sketch of the organizer, Ray Osbourne.
I then shimmied over to Titusville for a shake at the Moonlight Drive-In and a stop to say Hello to Lauralee Thompson at Dixie Crossroads. Then lots of stops for lots of photos including to a few parks. The sketch above was drawn as the sun set behind a cabbage palm.
